Boys vs Girls

I love the differences in the two....

Kyle was pretending to be a monster...

....Sierra runs away, squealing

....Reid turns around, with a book in his hand and says "No, I will fight him!" And takes jabs at the monster while making fighting sounds

These two are really loving to push each others buttons right now. But they also are connecting and having a lot of fun being play mates. They can make one another giggle and laugh over and over and I love to get to watch it!!!

They were having a blast this afternoon after nap time - crawling on each other, "wrestling", smoothing each other...and the laughter was contagious :)

Thankfully this one ended without injury - I'm sure that wont always be the case...

Cuties

Ballet party

Gracie's ballerina birthday party was full of frills, tutus and giggles. It was so fun! And Miss Cinnamon, Sierra's dance teacher from the spring, came to lead the girls in 30 min of ballet.

Sierra had a blast!!! And I have to admit, I had a blast just watching all the girls be so girly :)

Funnies

Reid....

He used to respond with a polite "yes" and "no". It then progressed to "yeh" and "Neh". It is now "mmm hmm" and "ugh ugh". ....(lovely)

-Reid: "oh, I believe it!"

Sierra....

"We haven't been to Africa in a long time! We need to go there!", randomly from the backseat one day

"Ok, Mommy, we need to pack your suitcase so we can go to Africa to go on a hike! C'mon! Lets go!", said as I opened her door to let her out of rest time (she is very into Africa right now!)

"I have a plan. On the way to church, we'll listen to your grown up music and on the way home, we'll listen to kids music! So that we can give you a little joy."

While Kyle was putting Sierra to bed, 

Sierra: "If I come out of my room, you'll give me one more chance, right?"

Kyle: "If you come out, you will get a consequence"

S: "but you're not the king of the castle. This isn't even a castle, it's a house"

K: "yes, I am"

S: "no, you're not. Because God and Jesus are the king because they love us"

K: (...silence...)

The boss

I was looking around the house for an important paper and asked Sierra if she knew where it could be...

Her response, "well, I don't know Mommy. I'm not the boss, so I don't know where it is. Sorry, I can't help."

Oh wow. She is a smart one! (And a bit of a stinker. But a super cute one!)

Sweet boy

At lunch, Reid looks over at my plate and says, in the sweetest loving voice, "You're almost done, Mommy! You're such a grown-up!"

(Haha! I tell him he's such a big boy all the time, so he was trying to encourage me this time)  :)

25 months going on 5 years

Reid is talking more and more like a big kid!! For months now he has been using long complete sentences (8-9 words) with correct grammar, pronouns, everything.

Yesterday I counted the words because it just sounded long...a 10 word sentence..."Take it off so I can put it right here!" - trying to boss around his 5 year old cousin!

And just now, 12 words!! "Did you hear that funny noise with the squeezie in my mouth?!"

He is fully in the "but why?" and "why not?" stage. And if I turn it around and ask him, he says "because..." And answers it himself! 

He just turned 25 months old but talks and often seems like he's a 4 or 5 year old :/

4th of July FUN

We took the kids to see their very first parade! The Lakeway parade by Poppa and Lala's house was a good one - lots of really cool vintage cars, a horse drawn carriage, army jeeps, war vets dressed in camo and carrying rifles, bubbles, floats and LOTS of candy!! I had forgotten that candy is a big part of a parade - most kids knew this and came with large bags to collect their loot. For our kids, who have hardly ever tried candy, this was amazing!!! They each got to eat one lollipop and have asked about the rest since (I only partly feel bad about this...hold them off as long as we can!)

Then we headed to Poppa and Lala's house and Uncle Matt, Peyton and the Corens came over for a day of swinging, playing, bubbles, slip 'n slide (a huge hit with the girls!!!!!), yummy lunch and a delicious flag dessert with berries, whip cream and cake made by Lala!!

Hi and Low

For the last couple months, at the dinner table, we have been each sharing our high moment from the day and our low moment from the day. All 4 of us share and it's been really fun (and funny)! I sometimes have to remind the kids what we've done that day and it sparks an answer. 

Two memorable responses:

Sierra: "my high was playing with Alex and Anya and my low was not seeing you, Daddy, when Alex and Anya were here". Soooo sweet!!! Daddy and Uncle Matt had been at the ranch for a few days while Auntie Kindel, Alex and Anya stayed at our house for a fun weekend of play. But she obviously still missed her Daddy :)

Reid: "my fwavorite is the real cow at Chick fil A!!!" (he said this every night for at least a week and the funny thing is that he was terrified of the cow!!! But his memory of it was very positive :)
