Bed transition

I've been wanting to keep Reid in a crib as long as possible, but we found a good deal on a used car bed that we couldn't pass up. Instead of finding a place to store it, it got set up in his room. Of course he has been super excited about this big boy bed...that is a car!

One afternoon I finally decided to let him lay in it for nap time. We went over the rules again - do not get out until Mommy comes to get you. Well, he is not so into following rules right now :/

I watched him from the monitor and he stayed on it and played for a bit and then kept getting out and back in. He isn't cry and didn't come out of his room, so I decided to just let him explore for the time being.

...it had been quiet for too long so I checked the monitor. I could not see him anywhere in his room!! I quietly peeked in and still couldn't find him!

...this is where he was...
See his leg and little foot? Yes! He climbed into the closet and fell asleep!!
Then I noticed he was sitting on one of his puppy pillows! He didn't sleep for more than 30-40 min. When he woke up, he crawled back in his bed and called for me until I came. Little Stinker even tried to pretend it had never happened!!!

When I asked him about it, he giggled and proudly showed me how he had set up all of his pillows in there to lay on. One puppy pillow for his head and one for his bum. This wasn't a fall asleep while playing nap; this was planned and on purpose!!

Why would you want to sleep on boxes in the closet when you just got a cool car bed?!! Silly boy.

...this was weeks ago...and he's still in his crib. The side of iris folded down so that he can climb in and out - we are working on the obeying the rules and staying in your crib part...so he can show us that he's ready for the big boy bed. So far, so good with the crib!

Fake smiles

Oh my. We've been in this stage for quite a while and I'm wondering how much longer before I can capture their real and beautiful smiles in photos!!!

Well, it sure makes for a good laugh :)
Cutie pies...

Cool kid places

In the past couple weeks, we have been to the new Children's museum in Austin and an aquarium in Ft.Worth. Both were sooo fun!!!

Little Caroline

We loved getting to spend lots of time with our littlest niece, Caroline. We haven't been able to see her as often as we would have likes and she's growing up sooo fast! She is so happy, good and mild mannered - a sweet baby indeed :)

Fashion sense

Sierra loves to choose what clothes to wear!! She has become quite opinionated with her sense of fashion. And now that she can fully dress herself, all I have to say is "go get dressed" and she does! She loves to surprise me, so I'm not allowed to go in her room or look at her while she's changing clothes. I love it because of her independence, her personality coming out in her clothing choices and my surprise of seeing it all put together. I sometimes have to persuade a slight revision to the outfit based on weather or the activity we're going to, but for the most part I'm trying to let her creativity go :)

What a cute and fun girl!!!

Polka dots always match polka dots...right?! :)

Getting big

It crept up on us, but Reid turned two and a half last week! ...and all of a sudden, 4 years old seems so grown up too.

They are growing up so fast! I have had several moments this week when I've looked at both of them and thought "you are so big. How did that happen?!"

She put on all the stamps for all 50 Christmas cards, all by herself!

Something about him that day just made him seem so much more like a kid than a toddler.

Ahh, I hope I never forget these stages of their childhood!!!!

Funnies

Reid- sitting in his crib, not napping. He has been yelling for 20 minutes now and he just said "Is anybody out there? Who is out of my room? Hello? Mommy, I have a question for you! Is anybody there?!". Hahaha, I couldn't stop laughing!
Then when I finally went in to get him, as soon as I opened the door he says "Mommy, when I'm a teenager, can I have a shoot gun?!" (OMG, seriously?!)
-----------------

Sierra uses the word "human" instead of "people" and it often makes for some pretty funny sentences. The other day she wanted to hand out some crafts she had made. She said "I am going to take my pictures to hand out to some humans when I see them!".
--------------------

Reid, after rolling around on the rug, he said "Isn't that a cool trick?! I learned it at HEB."  :)

Sierra drew a picture, brought it over to me and said "here Mommy, this is for you and your husband." Then she looked over at Kyle and smiled. Precious :)
