Cousins

I just love this. Each of their personalities are so precious. ... and Sierra thinks that Alex hung the moon.  :)

Performance

Tonight the kids said they had a performance for me to watch - I was the audience. I LOVE this! I remember doing tons of performances growing up and I love that now I get to be on this side of it.

The 1st round they found and put on their own costumes. Sierra is a fairy ( wings were added after the photo) and Reid is a Storm Trooper (he's never seen anything Star Wars but knows a surprising amount from his 6 yr old cousin). The fairy did a lot of dancing and twirling while the Storm Trooper walked around with a scowl on his face jabbing at bad guys.

Round 2 of performances called for a costume change. Sierra became a princess and demanded the stage to herself as she passionately belted out "Let it Go". Yes, a Frozen song. No surprise there. I wish I had gotten it on video. So much passion! Reid was a karate kid (he had help tying on his "belt"). He marched around with the same tough guy scowl, singing the "Bears, Bears" song and doing "karate" jabs.

The audience did a lot of clapping and the performers bowed each time.

I hope that memory stays with me forever. It was so cute!

Funnies

At dinner, Kyle took away a napkin that Sierra was playing with and she crossed her arms and said "Hey! You ruined my life!" And then very dramatically put her head down on the table.

-------------------------

Reid: oh no, the flowers are dying.
Sierra: I know, that's just how life is.

-------------------

After telling her to stay in her chair, she got down and was playing on the floor. I said "ok, you disobeyed. Lunch is over." And Sierra responds "But I need to go poo poo and my poo poo is makin me act crazy!"

-----------------------

After breakfast, the kids were playing really well together and I decided to do a little work on my laptop, while enjoying a warm cup of coffee. I looked over at them and told them I loved how nicely they were playing together and Reid says "Mommy, just drink your coffee and look at your computer."

Boy stuff

Reid is all boy. He is really into playing "bad guy" and "good guy", pretending anything is a sword or gun, protecting, defending, fighting with a tough guy expression on his face and fighting sounds, Nerf guns, trucks, etc.

This has lead to a lot of conflict with his girly, squealing, princess-loving sister!

Someone must have coached him on the role of little brother...he's really good at it! :)

Here's a picture from last night. He had been wearing the pirate hat for at least an hour and had just taken off the eye patch. While Sierra was brushing her teeth, he built a "pirate gate" in her doorway and sat on top of it to guard and keep her out. ...you can probably imagine how that went...

Band-aids

Life with a 2 year old and a 4 year old. No idea how we managed to "collect" so many. But it's the little things that bring them such excitement :)

Funnies

S: "I wish I had a Jesus costume"
------------------

S: "I wish I didn't have a bottom so I didn't have to go potty"
------------------

R, after sliding off a chair: "whoa! That was disgusting!"
-----------------

S: "Mommy, I wish we had someone who could cook for us everyday so you could play with us all day!"

----------------

After a big nap time battle, Reid finally fell asleep, after changing his white noise to very loud talk radio. It's blaring in his room and he's sound asleep. What a stinker! ...I keep giggling though and am debating whether or not to go in and turn it off ;)

Responsible and proud of it

We have a morning rule that the kids have to stay in their rooms until 7am. Sierra has woken up before 7 for most of her life, but has always enjoyed hanging out in her crib (and then bed) until we get her at 7. Most mornings now she wakes up within 10 or 15 min of 7am and plays.

Ever since she learned to read her digital clock, she watches it very closely and as soon as it turns to 7:00, she is bounding cheerfully downstairs! She is a morning person, just like her Daddy.

Last Friday, when she came out of her room at 7, she proudly told us that she had already gone potty, changed out of her jammies and into clothes, made her bed AND cleaned her room!!! And she was very proud that she had done all of that without even being asked. It was amazing. We were so proud of her too!

What a big girl!
