Big sister and Big brother

I am sooooo thankful that Sierra and Reid have LOVED Weston from the very first time they saw him. They want to hold him all the time!! Sometimes they touch a little too much! :-/ They always want to know where he is, what he's doing, what he's trying to say/tell us when he cries. They move stools around the house to watch me change his diaper, his clothes, feed him...everything. Sierra of course likes to pick out what he is going to wear. If she sees him wearing something new, she always says "oh Baby Weston you look so handsome" or "you look so cute in that outfit Baby Weston."

Sierra talks to him in this sweet soft high pitch voice and I love it. She truly is SO GOOD with him!! If he is in the swing and starts crying, she immediately drops what she's doing, says "I'll handle this". She goes to him saying "it's ok, sissy is here", talks to him, sings to him, puts the paci in his mouth and has even put him back to sleep several times all on her own!!!

First thing in the morning they both go looking for him and anytime they leave the house, they have to first give Baby Weston a hug and kiss. It's very sweet. If he is sleeping, Sierra says "Mommy will you please give Baby Weston a hug and kiss for me when he wakes up".

When he cries, Sierra usually says "oh! He wants his big sister". One day she got home from school and asked me if he had cried for her all day.

I can't wait to see how each of their relationships will grow as he gets older :)

Weston William

He came 6 (or maybe 8?) days past his due date. My whole pregnancy I thought my due date was Oct.3 but at my last OB appointment they said my chart showed Oct.5. So weird. It's only a 2 day difference but when that's been the most focused on date for 9 months, it's strange to hear that it was wrong.

Either way, he was overdue! Each day past Oct.3 seemed like a whole year. I was having contractions off and on but nothing too painful or consistent. Starting the night of the 8th, I had mildly painful contractions through the night but they didn't get closer together and were gone by morning. That happened 3 nights in a row and on the 3rd night (Oct.10), they were longer and more painful - but still not getting closer together than 10min. During one of those long contractions I felt and heard a 'pop'. I went to the bathroom and sure enough, my water had broken. It was 1:45am (Oct.11). Thankfully, Ed and Glo had just gotten to our house an hour earlier - couldn't have been more perfect timing! 

We were out the door by 2am. I was still only dilated to 1.5cm but it progressed to 5/6cm in an hour and a half. Those contractions were the strongest Id felt between all three labors - long and intense! At that point I got an epidural. Ahhh, such relief! 

Both my nurses were awesome! ...but they did keep giving me false hope that the baby would be born "within the hour". Several of those hours passed by without progressing much. He wasn't dropping and things were just slower than they expected.

The doctor on call (Dr.Gooch) came in and discovered that the baby's head was face up instead of face down. Somehow he was able to twist the head and it stayed that way. Weston was able to drop quicker after that.

The only scary part was that his heart rate kept dipping low and even slowed down so much at one point that the nurse came bursting in the room. As soon as she did, the heart starting beating and got back up to a normal fast rate - she said "Phew!!! That one scared me!". Well, that definitely didn't make me feel any better. After Weston was born, we found out that the umbilical cord was (loosely) wrapped around his neck. During the stronger contractions, it caused his heart rate to drop.

Once I felt pressure and was ready to push, the doctor and extra nurses came in. Each of them commented on how much hair they could see on the crowning head!

He had be do one big push and 2 small ones and then I saw my baby boy! Kyle cut the cord and then they placed him on my chest right away - so sweet. With our other two, they wiped them and wrapped them before handing to me. He was so warm, chubby, puffy, red and sweet! He kept his eyes closed for a lot of the first couple days. 

We are so happy that he is finally here!!! We all love you so much, Weston William!

Sweet ones

Love these! Both of them were all Sierra's ideas - she called me over from a different room/area to take a picture that she posed :)

Tents

The kids are really into building forts. They build and rebuild several every day and they're getting really good at it! Pillows and blankets are gathered from all over the house and furniture is moved around to accommodate their complex building plans. It's good teamwork too! 

I took this picture of the monitor. Reid insisted on sleeping in his tent for the night - he is laying in the floor behind his bed, underneath all of that! He lasted about 5 min and said it was too hot :)

Sierra is really into wanting me to take pictures of things all the time. Sometimes it's of her doing something and other times it's of a puzzle or picture she made. And of course, Reid now asks for just as many too.

River R&R

Every time the Davises have invited us down for a day at the river house in Wimberely, we have loved our time there!

It is so peaceful, calm, relaxing!

Little hugger

I do not ever want to forget this, because I know that one day it will pass.

At random times throughout the day (every day now for a couple months), Reid stops what he's doing and runs up to me and gives me a really big hug. Most of the time he says "I love you" at the same time...and then he runs back to what he was doing.

It is the sweetest thing ever. I love love love it!!!!!!
