Sierra funnies

this kiddo has always had quite the personality, but the more she develops, the more we see it. she is so fun and sure does keep us on our toes!!

here are some funny moments with our Sierrita:
- "hiiiiiii" - to be read with a southern drawl, very drawn out and dramatic. that's how sierra says hi. it's very funny! and she always waves at the same time. out in public she is very social and she also says "hiiii" and waves to everything. ...often to her yogurt, oatmeal, photos and mostly things she sees in books. she says "hiiiii" and waves to the dogs, cats, babies, stars, bubbles, etc. in books...and the real live ones too. she is so friendly :)

- she calls my dad Poppa. well, she and i were at the grocery store one day and while i was picking out bananas i hear her excitedly saying "Poppa, Poppa". when i turn around to see if my dad is there, i notice she is pointing at the asian man making sushi at the sushi stand. i laughed out loud. he didn't look much like my dad, but yes, they are both asian.

- a couple of times now i have asked "Sierra, did you have a good nap?" and she looks down at her hands and snaps. nap/snap, hehe. i guess i typically say "night night" and not "nap", so she doesn't know the word yet.

- similar to the Poppa story, she calls my mom Alaalaa (Abuela). there was a dog book that we had checked out of the library and there was one woman on one page kneeling down petting a dog. without fail, every single time we read the book (which was a lot), she pointed to the lady and proudly proclaimed "Alaalaa!" - the woman had short brown hair, just like my mom.

- "bubble" - this may have been Sierra's first real word. and it started out referring only to bubbles that we played with every day on the back proch for awhile. well, over the past few months "bubble" is also her word for "baby" and "diaper". it takes some context to figure out which one she is talking about!

- she also points to any circle and says "bubble" now. that's pretty good - she recognizes the circle shape! but think about how many circle things there are - this is beginning to be the most common word i hear during the day...especially between "baby" and "diaper" usage too! and it makes me laugh because i know a couple little boys who would call all circles "ball"...go figure our little girly girl sees them as bubbles instead :)

- "bubble" Jesus. ever since we put out Christmas decorations, Sierra has been obsessed with all the "bubbles" (babies) around the house. we have a few nativities spread around in different rooms. she can't reach any but will stand where she can see them, point and desperately say "bubble, bubble, ..." until someone picks her up to see or brings the baby down so she can see it. she immediately says "awwwww". then she gives the baby Jesus a kiss. IT IS PRECIOUS. i don't know what she's going to do when we put them all away for a whole year (partly why i haven't boxed them up yet)!

- she is trying to repeat words all the time now. sometimes she gets really close and other times she gets one syllable right and then adds something along the lines of "lemalama" to the end of it (it's this funny sound she does with her tongue). you have to hear it to appreciate it. it is hilarious! here are some examples:
Auntie Meli - Malemalama
oatmeal - ohmenamala

- paci and osito. she has consistently called her paci "mama" for a long time. no idea how she got that. but she definitely understands when you say "where is your paci?" or "go get your paci". this one confuses people a lot. and then her favorite buddy, her little bear, whom i have always called "osito" - she calls "gu" or maybe it's "du", hard to tell. again, no idea. but it may stick!

i'm sure there are many more of these funnies to come!
