Sierra Speak
I am constantly amazed at how quickly Sierra's speech is improving. She picks up on things right away and will remember a random thing she heard days later. This is a REALLY fun (and funny) stage. She has me laughing out loud all the time. :)
Some recent funnies:
"Mommy, wanna color, babe?"
"poo poo so cute. poo poo so piddy." (as i was changing her diaper. i guess she doesn't fully understand the definition of cute/pretty!)
"Mommy, come back!! Hey, come back!!" (when i walked into the other room)
"hey you..." (referring to me)
Me: "Sierra, who did you play with at school today?"
S: "a Jesus"
(she's already learned the "churchy" answers!)
Me: "Sierra, can you jump?"
S: "Yeah! I do!"
("I do" is a common response to questions we ask. Most of the questions start with "Do you...?" so she's right on. But it's funny when it's not a do/did question and the response is still "yeah! i do!", very enthusiastically.)
Me: "What else are you thankful for?" (as we're praying)
S: "milk...tree...birdie...pate (plate)...milk..." (the list goes on as she looks around the room. precious. sometimes she goes through everyone in the family)
her ABC's sound something like this (with the tune pretty right on):
"A, B, C, D, E, F, G, elmo, P, Q, awe, SSS, T, U, V, W, XXX, ZZ,... know ABC,...with meeee"
commonly heard throughout the day: "my hair hurt", "my knee hurt", "my arm hurt", etc., etc. It's like the boy who cried wolf - hard to know what's real!!
picking up one of her animals and holding it right up to her face - nose to nose: "puppy, LOOK at me". (she hears this one a lot from me! i think eye contact is really important to make sure she is listening to me and she's trying to ignore me. i guess she's understanding it! ...or maybe just copying me.)
